Elisabeth Shue Joine Cast Of 'CSI'

Looks like CBS's longtime show CSI is adding another new cast member.

Actress Elisabeth Shue, who won an Oscar for her role in Leaving Las Vegas, is joining the cast of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. CBS released the news on Friday and her character's first appearance will be in the February 15, 2012 episode.

Apparently Shue's new character is coming on board to phase out longtime cast member Marge Helgenberger's character, Katherine Willows, as she's preparing to leave the show.

According to PEOPLE, Shue's character will be the team's newest CSI who arrives shortly after taking an anger management course - and viewer will discover she has a history with D.B. Russell (played by newest cast member Ted Danson), whom her character worked with in Seattle.
"While it?s difficult to say goodbye to a beloved character like Catherine Willows, it's exciting to start a journey with a new CSI, especially when that character is played by Elisabeth Shue," executive producer Carol Mendelsohn said in a statement. "The new CSI also struggles with 'brutal honesty issues' and suffers no fools."
I wasn't too sure about Danson's character and how he'd fit in with the cast but after watching this season with him in it I've somewhat fallen in love with the show again. Maybe adding Elisabeth Shue to the cast is a good thing...hopefully.
